At Motorsport Connections we want to make servicing as simple, and hassle free as possible. Below are some frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t listed below, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service team on 336-659-8988.
Why should I choose MSC for my oil service?
At MSC, a trained technician who knows your BMW allows for many benefits. They look for common failures that can prevent a higher repair bill and/or a possible breakdown. They top off all fluids, adjust tire pressures, brake inspection, replace any bulbs that may be out and address minor concerns you may have.. We use only the best motor oil in the industry and factory OEM filters. Having a trained professional is vital in keeping your vehicle healthy and on the road.
What type of oil do you use?
Since the late 90’s, German vehicles have used full synthetic motor oil. At MSC, we use LiquiMoly Full Synthetic motor oil. WE believe this LiquiMoly is the best oil money can buy. Click here to learn more
The dealer said I can go 10k miles between oil services, why do you recommend every 5K miles?
In the late 90’s, BMW started offering “free” maintenance to help grow their car sales. Free oil changes and extended oil change intervals were marketing gimmicks that have been criticized since their introduction. Thankfully, BMW has backed away from the ridiculous 15,000 mile oil changes but they still have extended recommendations that make us a little uncomfortable. With advanced engineering it’s certainly possible to have oil that works “good enough” after 10,000 or 12,000 miles. But with the accumulation of dirt, moisture, and the chemical breakdown from heat and friction we just don’t believe it’s wise to leave oil in for that long. With everything that oil is responsible for it just makes sense to change it often.
Do you accept aftermarket or third party warranties?
Yes, we accept aftermarket third party warranties. No need for you to call and start a claim, let us handle the red-tape and get you taken care of. Sometimes they ask questions you may not know the answer to, or answer it in a way that may not get your claim approved.
Do you offer pre-purchase inspections?
Yes. Feel free to call us to set-up an appointment. We understand you are most likely at the mercy of the seller, so we do our best to get you in when its convenient for you or the seller.
What's included on a pre-purchase inspection?
At MSC, we perform an extensive checklist on the potential vehicle you may purchase. We check for unseen accident history, previous repairs, tire and brake condition, fault codes stored, fluid leaks, lights, windows, and much more. At MSC, we also educate you on the vehicle and what repairs may be in your future. Unforeseen problems and possible future repairs are important consideration in a buying decision.
Do you work on any other car manufactures?
Since all vehicle manufactures have become so sophisticated, we only specialize in BMW, Mini Cooper and Mercedes-Benz.
What is a manufacture recall?
An auto recall occurs when a car manufacturer or the NHTSA determines that a car model (or several models) has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal safety standard. When this happens, the automaker will alert owners to the problem and offer a free repair.
Can Motorsport Connections take care of the recall on my vehicle?
Because the car manufacturer is required to repair your vehicle free of charge, the dealership is the only facility that can take care of your recall.
I have this recall letter, what do I do?
Call the nearest dealership, ask for the service department and schedule an appointment.
The dealership is performing the recall on my car and they are telling me I need other repairs, what do I do?
Its common practice for dealerships to recommend services and repairs while your car is there for a recall Don’t panic, call us or come over anytime. We will take a look at what they’ve recommended and determine the urgency of those repairs.
Can a dealer refuse to honor the factory warranty if MSC does the routine maintenance or repairs?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, says no. In fact, it’s illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed by someone else. In fact, we often perform our recommended oil service intervals of every 5k miles on new, under warranty vehicles. Because BMW, Mercedes Benz & Mini offer free service while under warranty, we will not reset your oil service light so you can take advantage of their “free” oil service.
